We have a trench . . .

And we have a trench!  About 6 inches down, they hit rock and it looked very un-fun.  But they persevered.  They worked until dark last night and this morning, here's what first light brought . . .

The ease and speed at which our giant animal hopped this three foot deep trench makes me think twice and three times about that itty tiny safety moat between me and the tigers at the zoo.

Looking lengthwise.  It's a LONG chunk of wall.  I'm glad to be breaking up the monotony with a four foot step and about nine feet of fireplace.

Giant pile of rock, concrete scrap and junk the guys had to drill through.  Tonight, they set the rebar INTO the rock.   Wonder what else is buried beneath our lot . . .

For the sake of recapping, here's the before picture . . .

Though it doesn't look like much, the moss rock wall immediately behind where the grass should be is the wall in question.  This was taken almost a month ago.  Things really are STILL this brown here.  Common areas and parks aren't even green yet.  The trees are barely beginning to bud.
